Hit!!! Literally and figuratively. Will did such a great job. He is pretty darn good at baseball. He bats well, throws well, and catches the ball well but even better....he loves it. It also helped tremendously that Eli Tafoya is on his team. He felt comfortable as soon as we got there. I just can't tell you how proud I am of this little boy. He has come so far. I don't know if it is just age (maturity), preschool, or what...but he has really come out of his shell, plays so well with other children, and really loves his friends. Two years ago when we signed him up for basketball, we couldn't even get him to go out on the court and tonight he ran right out on that field. Tears swelled in my eyes. It is so hard yet so neat watching your kids grow up.
I also wanted to give Brian some kudos for spending most of the weekend practicing with Will. He even got out there tonight...dress pants, shirt, and tie...and was right by his side helping him when he needed help and just constantly encouraging him. Brian is such an amazing dad and Will loves his involvement in his life. As we were putting Will to bed tonight he looked over at Brian and said, "Will you please please please come to my next t-ball game daddy?" I am not even sure why he even bothered asking because Brian wouldn't miss it for the world.
The only obstacle I for see with this whole t-ball experience will be 1. Will's need to do everything perfectly (thus strikes and outs will not be fun) and 2. my need to coach along side Brian. I suppose it is the teacher in me but it drives Brian nuts. I just can't help myself.
Way to go, Will!
