Possible Flood?

The kids must know something I don't....perhaps a terrential down pour, flooding river, leaky roof...something......because Abby is insistent on wearing her rain jacket with the hood up and Will is insistent on wearing his googgles. Sure hope they aren't preparing themselves for when I leave Jen's house today. :)

Off for a day of fun in Louisville and Lexington. Pics to soon follow.

Weekend Happenings...

Let's see...I will start with Friday.

Friday we went out to the house and couldn't believe all the progress they had made this past week. Almost all the dry wall was up (except for the basement) and this week they are mudding and sanding. We are so anxious for them to be done.

Saturday morning we got up and took a 2 hour trip to go and pick out the granite for our kitchen counter tops...and we are SOOO thankful we did. The sample we picked out at the store was vastly different from what they had at the wharehouse. It was way more orangey brown. Had we not gone to see it ourselves, we would have been so diasppointed. I highly recommend anyone that is putting granite in their home to actually go and pick out the slabs themselves. We then drove on to Bloomginton to have lunch and get a taste bigger city life. It was a fun morning.

Saturday night a guy that Brian works with, Chris, invited us over for dinner with him and his family. He and his wife Dana have 2 boys (ages 4 and 15 months) and we had the nicest time. Dana was so friendly and so welcoming and Will loved their older son. The food was out of this world (ribs smoked on the grill for 10 hours) and the hospitatily so nice. And the best part is that they live down the street from the house we are building. I can't wait to see more of them.

Today, my parents came up for a visit and they brought with them lunch from Old Hickory..plus mom's mac-n-cheese and home made peach cobbler. We ate like kings...AGAIN. Needless to say, we have consumed way too much food this weekend but we sure did enjoy it.

A very nice weekend.

Already looking forward to Friday and our visit with Jen and A.J.'s birthday party Friday night....and next weekend Bardstown. I can already taste those yummy Hadorn donuts.

A great way to spend a day...

Yesterday was such a treat. The Taylor Tots had a play date with the St. John tots and what fun it was!!! We met half way in Owensboro and took the kids to the museum and to Chick-Fil-A for lunch. I was so impressed with the Owensboro museum....not so much for the exhibits but the indoor play space. I have never seen a museum with such a big, nice indoor play area.
It is so nice that our children love being with each other as much as I love being around Jennifer. It is twice as nice when everyone has a friend. Abby loves E-E. She said at least 10 times yesterday "E-E is my friend". I catch them holding hands, laughing, and playing together. It is the cutest thing. We love the St. John's. Here are some pics from our day...

Will's "mad skills"

There is nothing that excites this boy more than his daddy winning a few races on Mario Kart and unlocking a new world or character. It is big time around here. I secretly snapped a video of Will doing his "mad skills" as Brian was about to win.
Shhh...I think he gets his dancing skills from his dad.

Cute pics of the kids...

I snapped these a couple days ago and forgot to share. It was our last time to attend church as Kentucky residents. :(

Wedding Fun

Last night we drove to Fort Knox for Brian's cousin's (J.T.) wedding. We haven't been to a wedding in so long. It was a lot of fun. Great food and great company.
The reception was held at Camp Carlson (a military recreational facility) and it was so nice. For anyone that likes to camp, I highly recommend it. It was quiet, peaceful, had several playgrounds for the kids, and looked very well maintain. Will and Abby both talk about camping all the time (thanks to the "Legend of Pinkfoot" episode on Bubble Guppies) so I know our time of "roughing-it" is soon upon us. Brian and I are way more hotel people then tent people so needless to say our first camping trip will be an interesting one.
Here is a pic from last night.

My new e-mail and a few messages....

Just in case my message did not reach everyone, I just wanted you to know my new e-mail address is melissactaylor@yahoo.com
Christine--thank you so much for the sweet comment. I am so sorry we missed you. Monday and Tuesday were such a blur. Please keep in touch and let me know how the kids are doing. My e-mail is above.
Miss Bonnie--I looked for 30 minutes Thursday and could not find your new phone number. Will you e-mail it to me so I can call you?

Official Jasper Residents...

As of Tuesday night around 9:00, we became official Jasper residents. The movers came Monday and finished up Tuesday night. We took shelter at Jen's house both days and soaked up as much time together as we could. The kids played and played and had such a big time. It was so hard saying good-bye. I have shed so many tears. It such a rush of emotion. I know we are where God wants us to be but it is not with out sadness for all that was left behind. However, I am excited for this new chapter in our lives and look forward to all the new memories and experiences we are going to share. I am also thankful for the people that God has placed in my life already....Brenda, Karena, and Molly.
Here are some pictures of the house that I took last night. It was so exciting to see how much they have completed already. I can't wait to move in and see all of our hard work and planning come together.

Birthday Fun...

It is hard to believe my little boy is 5. I don't know where the past 5 years have gone. On one hand it has flown by and then on another I can look at videos and pictures and think....was he ever that small? The one thing I do know for certain is that he has been such a joy to raise and love. He has such a sweet spirit and a tender heart.
Will had such a big time at this birthday party. All of his little best friends came....Matthew, Eli, Ethan, Eli, A.J. and Houston. He loved the ticket blaster, the ski ball machines, and the attention from everyone...except Chuck E Cheese himself. And if you were an adult who liked kids running around, blaring music, and mediocre pizza...then the parents had a good time too.
I was so humbled by my friends who drove 1+ hours just to celebrate with Will and show their love and support for this next chapter in our lives.... Tracy, Jennifer, Vicki, Vera, and Linda. I couldn't ask for better friends. Thank you.
Here are some pics from the day. Thanks to all our family and friends who came and made Will feel so loved and celebrated.

How may I serve you??

When is the last time someone asked you this? If you can't remember then you obviously haven't been to Chick-Fil-A in a while. Every time I step up to the counter to order, someone with a pleasant smile on their face asks me, "How may I serve you today?" The first thought that comes to mind is always....Well, you can clean my house, organize my kitchen, fold my laundry, do my ironing, and come up with creative, engaging activities for my children...but then I come to my senses and realize that I am there to order my beloved #1 combo meal with a coke zero and two kids' meals....which I do every time...and every time the chicken is juicy, the fries are warm, and the service is impeccable. Where else can you find LARGE packets of ketchup, packets of low fat mayonnaise, sanitary wipes for the kids, bendy kids' straws, and after dinner mints. Really? This place is a gold mine. And lets not forget Sally. Our sweet, dear Sally whom has waited on us hand and foot for as long as I can remember. Filling our drinks, getting extra condiments, taking our trays, carrying our food, getting our ice cream and does it all with such a servant's heart. Gracious, warm, friendly, and so very kind. The kids love Sally. We love Sally. My mother in law loves Sally. Sadly enough...there is no Chick-Fil-A where we are moving and no Sally...means only one thing....lots of visits to Kentucky so we can eat at my all time favorite restaurant and see one of my all time favorite people.
Tonight was Cow Appreciation. If you dressed like a cow, you got a FREE meal. Yes, that's right....all 3 of us ate for free. See why I love this place??

The final countdown has begun....

We have only 2 more days left here in good ol' Kentucky. The moving trucks will be here Monday, will finish up Tuesday, and then off we go. It has been a bit of an emotional week for me. This house holds lots of precious memories. We moved here when Will was 2 weeks ago, grew to know my savior here, witnessed God move in my heart, my marriage, and my family, gave birth to Abby, developed such a special friendship with Jen and her family, and got stay at home and raise my family. The sweet spot of my life....some of my most cherished memories. Looking back at the past 5 years reminds me that God's plan is much better than my own. I would have never dreamed a life like this for myself...children as endearing as mine, a husband as good, loyal, and kind as mine....friends so genuine and kind....and yet God continues to push us on. I can't wait to see what else He has in store for us.
Will's ChuckECheese birthday party is Sunday. I can't believe my little boy is turning 5. He is getting so big. I will have lots of fun pictures to post and stories to tell. The next few days will be a little bit of a blur but I will update as and when I can.

More Progress...

Cabinet order sumbitted, floors picked out, lighting and plumbing finalized. The roof goes on next week. Woo Hoo!!
